ISA 2012

Its now confirmed that I will be doing demos in Avery's booth for the 2012 ISA show.  What I will actually be wrapping is being finalized but I look forward to showing some new tricks I've picked up recently.  I will also be doing short demos at Mutoh's booth between the Avery sessions.  Feel free to come on by and check out the wrapping or ask questions.  See you all in Orlando!

The Latest Avery Certified Installers

Congratulations to the following installers as they passed the Avery Certification Test.  All of these installers will now be listed at:  www.carwraps.net and be given an official certificate that will help them get leads and new clients.  Carwraps.net is the number one site on Google for car wrap searches which makes it better than any other site or listing for installers in terms of immediate recognition and bids.

Video from SEMA

Here is a link to a Youtube video from my demos at SEMA.  For this particular demo, I wrapped the hood of the Dodge Challenger in red metallic Avery Supreme Wrapping Film then I put an accent chrome piece on over top.  While I am wrapping, Paul Roba from Avery, provides a running a commentary.

SEMA 2011

I wrapped up my demos for Avery-Dennison at SEMA in Las Vegas on Friday last week.  For the demos, I wrapped a Dodge Challenger with different colors and finishes of Avery Supreme Wrapping Film along with a concept chrome film.  For the set up day, I wrapped the bumper, hood, roof, trunk and back bumper in matte black.  For the show, I wrapped the sides and the hood with different colors each day.  On the first day, I made the sides green, the next dark metallic gray and then the rest of the time I wrapped the hood in metallic red with a chrome accent in the middle.  The crowds were really, really big and extremely receptive to the paintwrap concept.  A special thanks to Paul Roba for helping out during the demos and Todd Hain for setting up my part of the booth.  A special, special thanks to my wife for making it out to the show.  Now I'm in route to Seattle to teach the last School of Wrap workshop for 2011.  The 2012 schedule should be coming out shortly.

Getting Ready for the Next Run

I am getting everything in order for the last round of workshops/sign shows for 2012.  First up, two Avery/Mutoh School of Wrap workshops in Atlanta and Chicago.  Next up will be the Avery Dennison booth at SEMA and then another workshop in Seattle.  A busy but good schedule.  I believe there are 2 spots left for the workshop in Seattle so if you're interested be sure to sign up quick.  Also, stop by the Avery Dennison booth at SEMA to watch my demos.  I will be wrapping a Dodge Challenger with a mix of print and paintwrap films.  Should be fun.

Four 2011 School of Wrap Workshops Remaining

There are 4 Avery/Mutoh School of Wrap workshops left for 2011.  The next two in September - Toronto/Atlanta are sold out.  For Atlanta, there is such a high demand that a second class may be added.  This additional workshop will either be Sept. 14-16 or Oct. 24-26.  Be sure to contact Avery and request the additional class.  In late October/early November there will be workshops held in Chicago and Seattle.  These are almost full so act now.   There will be an Avery certification test after each workshop.  Note that the Avery certification test is open to all installers (you don't have to take the 2-day workshop).  For more information and to sign up go to:

Chrome

Today I tested some experimental new chrome film from Avery Dennison.  Normally, chrome film is super stiff and whitens when stretched.  One of these samples of chrome from Avery Dennison was super conformable and didn't whiten at all.  Really remarkable stuff.  I am hoping that this chrome will be available for purchase in the near future as I get asked about chrome film all the time.  Here are some links to videos I made of the chrome installs.

LA/Phoenix School of Wrap Completed

The latest round of the Avery-Mutoh School of Wrap is in the bag.  The first round took place at NuSign in Los Angeles and the second round at Mutoh Headquarters in Phoenix.  Both classes were exceptional with students really eager to learn and take it to the next level.  When you have students wanting to learn it makes my job that much easier.  In both workshops a cargo van was completely wrapped.  Its always funny to see their faces when I tell them to remove the wrap as soon as they are done.  All that hard work and in 10 minutes its gone.  After the vans the students had lots of time to work on the more difficult aspects of wrapping like mirrors, bumpers and door handles.  The media used for the workshops was Avery's 1005SC Easy Apply RS with 1360 DOL.  As usual, everyone who had not worked with Avery before was blown away by its ease of use, printability and how it conforms so easily to curves.  All the media was printed on a Mutoh Valuejet.

As for the Avery Certification Test, 6 people passed.  Their names will be announced tomorrow.

The next round of workshops is coming up at the end of July/early August.  The workshop at the end of July in New Jersey is almost full so if you are on the east coast I would sign up now before its too late.  Go to: http://na.averygraphics.com/AvGrNA_avery_wrap_school.asp

Thanks to NuSign and Mutoh for all their help with the workshops and certification tests and a special thanks to Linda from Avery for being so super duper throughout the workshops.  I couldn't have pulled this off on my own, especially with my broken arm.

Great ISA Show in the Avery Booth

I have just arrived in LA after a really successful ISA sign show in Vegas.  Thursday thru Saturday I did 3 demos a day for Avery-Dennison.  I wrapped different sections of a Ford Transit Connect with Avery 1005SC Easy Apply RS with 1360 DOL.  The crowds were nice and big, asking lots of questions about the wrapping process.  I always love to see the faces of people when they see how easy Avery film is to reposition in comparison to the other brands out there.  As soon as people see how good Avery film looks and installs they switch over.  Cool to be a part of.  During the show I also did a demo once a day in the Mutoh booth.

Tomorrow I will be teaching the Avery-Mutoh School of Wrap at NuSign in LA and then I'm off to Phoenix to teach it again.  Busy busy but very good.

Thanks as always to Paul Roba and the crew from Avery for their help throughout the ISA show.

First Round of School of Wrap Completed

I just finished the first two Avery-Mutoh School of Wrap workshops and they were a big success. The two hands-on workshop for both Orlando and Dallas were filled with students really eager to learn which always makes it a really fun program to teach. For these 2-day workshops along with the remaining 8 scheduled for 2011 the students learn the fundamentals of my UGIS system on Day 1 and then on Day 2 they wrap a cargo van along with learning how to wrap bumpers and door handles.

The certification tests went well. I want to congratulate Mike Colbath from Yukon Trophy and Awards, Inc. and David Norat of Brush Fire Graphics for passing the test. They are now Avery Certified Installers and will be listed on Avery's new website and given a certificate.

The next round of workshops and certification are coming up in about 6 weeks in LA and Phoenix. In LA, it will be held at NuSign and in Phoenix at Mutoh Headquarters. For more information on the workshops and certification go to:

Thanks as always to everyone at Avery and Mutoh for their help coordinating this and to Sign Warehouse and Proveer for hosting. A special thanks to Linda Ebbinghaus from Avery.
