School of Wrap – Texas
The Avery/Mutoh School of Wrap held at Sign Warehouse in Denison, TX is in the bag. There were 16 people who took the 2-day workshop. It was definitely one of the toastier workshops as there was a heat wave going on (I think for both days it was 110 degrees outside). Even though it was warm, the Avery 1005 Supercast was super easy to apply which amazed the attendees. They were expecting the film to grab the vehicle but they could easily reposition the film. This is a huge advantage for car wrapping, especially in places like Texas. During the workshop the students worked on a conversion van, two sedans and they completely wrapped a Miata in leopard print. Thanks to Deanna from Sign Warehouse for providing the Miata and the ice cream birthday cake (my birthday was on Aug. 3).
New Price for DVDs – 3 for $99!
I'm happy to announce there is a new price for the 3 DVD combo pack for the Techniques and Tips instructional DVDs. Now, get all 3 DVDS: Vehicle Graphic Installations, Advanced Wrapping and Speedwrapping for $99 (this includes free shipping anywhere in the world and a squeegee/flexifelt). I made this decision based on the overwhelming response I had to the $99 price at the ISA show and for the latest round of the Avery-Mutoh School of Wrap workshops. Before this price change, the 3 DVD combo sold for $149 and for ISA/workshops I offered a special $99 price.
Together, the 3 "T and T" DVDs clock in at around 6 hours and are essentially a workshop in a box. These DVDs are available at: www.learntowrapcars.com and at Sign Warehouse.
New Design for DVD Website
I am really excited to announce the totally redesigned www.leanrtowrapcars.com. I have been very fortunate to have been able to work with Alex Donovan from (a)squared studio (www.asquaredstudio.com) on this project. Alex was spot on from the get go which made the whole process much easier than it usually is.
This new site features the two new Techniques and Tips DVDs - Advanced Wrapping and Speedwrapping. It also has detailed info on my Universal Graphic Installation System, the 2011 Avery-Mutoh School of Wrap/Certification program, Squeezy hands-on workshops, new youtube videos and much more. Thanks to Sign Warehouse, Mutoh and NT Cutter for their sponsorship on the new DVDs and website.
Feels like I got a new car without the new car smell.
2011 School of Wrap about to begin
I am getting ready to fly out to the U.S. for the first Avery-Mutoh School of Wrap for 2011. It is taking place at Sign Warehouse from March 3-5. Its been a pleasure creating this new program, particularly the Avery Certification written and install exam. After this workshop I head to Orlando where there is another School of Wrap workshop at Proveer. From Orlando, I head to Alaska to teach two private workshop then back home to Amsterdam.
For the Avery-Mutoh School of Wrap, the final schedule and locations is now set so if you're interested go to:
Sign Warehouse Tool Page
A few months ago I made a deal with Sign Warehouse to carry some of the tools I talk about on my new DVD "Techniques and Tips: Vehicle Graphic Installations". I did this so people could go to one place to get a majority of the tools instead of buying them from a handful of websites. Today the page came out in their catalog and here it is. Super cool.
Workshop #1 at Sign Warehouse completed

This is the group pic of the basic/intermediate group for the Mutoh School of Wrap workshop at Sign Warehouse in Texas. This was a really great group of students - very eager to learn and get deep into the process. Over two days they got up to speed on my UGIS: Universal Graphic Installation system and wrapped a box truck for a local high school and a mini-van for Sign Warehouse.
They really enjoyed working with the Avery 1005 Supercast film with the 1.3 overlam. I think the three things they liked about it was the initial low tack which made it very easy to reposition, how well it conformed to curves and that it prints great. All the graphics were printed by a Mutoh Valuejet which meant that they were perfect. Tomorrow is the advanced class and then I'm heading back home to be with my ladies. A special thanks to Larry Adams and everyone at Sign Warehouse for helping make this a great workshop and to Crystal Baus and Chris Prince at Mutoh for all their hard work in promoting and with administration.

Box truck added to the Sign Warehouse workshop
Wrapping a box truck has just been added to the basic/intermediate workshop coming up at Sign Warehouse on May 10/11. This means that the students will wrap 2 full vehicles during the workshop - a mini-van and the box truck. I think this really rounds out the class because the one question that always comes up during my workshops is how to do rivets. I show my foam roller method which is key to doing rivets quickly and precisely. For sign up info go to: http://mutohcarwraps.com/MutohSchoolofWrap.html
ISA Show in Orlando

The ISA show in Orlando this past weekend went really, really well. The crowd turnout at Mutoh's booth was big with lots of people inquiring about the Carwraps Business Builder and my videos/workshops. Todd LaBrie, owner of Carwraps, and myself did 3 demos a day, highlighting the strengths of our program which is efficiency and quality. I used Avery's new 1005 Supercast film for the demos and people were very into it. I think this is going to be a very good product for Avery. High quality media that prints and installs extremely well for an excellent price point. Smart on their part to make the price point the same as their old 1005 Easy Apply RS. The people at Mutoh, particularly Randy "The Man" Anderson, went out of their way to make sure the booth looked great. Always a pleasure to do the demos for Mutoh. The next U.S. event on the horizon is the hands-on workshop at Sign Warehouse from May 10-12. For more info on the workshop go to: www.mutohcarwraps.com.

SEMA – Great way to end the year
SEMA 2009 just came to a close and what a great show. Since it was a car show I didn't know what kind of response people would have to my demos and the Carwraps Business Builder that Mutoh launched at this show. To my very pleasant surprise it was the best show of the year both in the size of the crowds and how people really get the program and are excited by it. I did my 2 demos a day with the help of Sandra Schreuder, one of my favorite installers who was in town from the Netherlands. She came here with her boyfriend, Niels Langedijk, co-owner of Squeezy, the premiere installation company in the Netherlands. For the demos I used Oracal film that was printed on a Valuejet. Todd LaBrie, owner of Carwraps, would take over the mic when Sandra and I would wrap the passenger side. Todd LaBrie would explain in detail about the Carwraps Business Builder that now comes free with a Mutoh printer. Essentially it is: for one year, any new Mutoh customer gets access to the HD installation videos I created, Todd LaBrie's design videos, discount for hands-on training and then, after a testing period, the printers/installers get listed on Carwraps which is America's #1 website. This will generate leads for the customers. This separates Mutoh from every other printer out there in that their customers get a great printer, they will learn how to design/install and get leads. A business in a box. Cool stuff.
I'm looking forward to relaxing tonight and tomorrow then flying to Sign Warehouse for the sold out hands-on workshop which is sponsored by Mutoh and Avery. After all the hardwork this year, its nice to see things start to really come together. Viva Las Vegas.
